The Cell of Daniil the Hermit, a small and austere cave in the Rarau Mountains of Bucovina, invites you to discover an oasis of peace and spirituality. Here lived as a hermit the Abbot Daniil Sihastrul, one of the most famous sikhs in the history of Romanian Orthodoxy, famous for his life dedicated to prayer, meditation and asceticism.
A place steeped in history and symbolism:
The cave is located about 1 km from Putna Monastery, at an altitude of 1200 meters. Although modest in size, the cell of Daniil Sihastrul is a symbol of Romanian monastic spirituality and tradition. The austere interior, with an icon and a small table, exudes an atmosphere of silence and recollection, inviting introspection and prayer.
A holy place for pilgrims:
The cell of Daniil the Hermit is considered a holy place and is often visited by pilgrims seeking peace of mind and blessing. Access is through a small door and is free of charge.
